Illegal Drivers in L.A.

In Los Angles this mouth there was a study on unlicensed drivers and illegal immigrants. The combination of these two variables results in the most ancients that happen on the road. "If you don't hold people accountable to acceptable standards, then we get people that aren't prepared and don't have the skill set," said Tyler Izen, president of the Los Angeles Police Protective League. The police are just trying to keep the streets safe for citizens, but some illegal immigrants need to be on the road to go to work. “I have little choice but to drive to work, pick up groceries and take her daughters to school.", said Maria Galvan, a 42-year-old illegal immigrant who lives in Los AngelesSome immigrants who have qualified for a federal work permit are being granted permission by Jerry Brown, the governor of California, to take a written and driving test to obtain a legal driver's license.

I believe that it is just common sense for people who are diving on the road to be educated on the laws of the road. I took driving ed this summer and recommend it for all people who will be driving. I also do feel bad for these immigrants who are just trying to support their families and think that Jerry Brown is doing the right thing by giving these tests to qualified illegal immigrants. This strategy keeps the bad drivers off the road and allows the ones who have proved their skill to go to work and the store for their families or their own self-benefit.

  1. Illegal immigration always has and always will be a touchy subject. On one hand, our humanist personalities say that we should accept them and help them support their families. On the other hand, we also want to protect American jobs. This is an interesting subject, because usually we focus on either immigrant motivation or their effect on the economy. I think no matter which side you take on the argument, most of us would agree that uneducated drivers should not be on the roads, regardless of their nationality or citizenship. Whether you think we should then promote illegal aliens to learn and get liscences is up to you, but I believe that we need t keep unsafe drivers off the road, whether they are illegal minimum wage immigrants or citizens who don't feel the need to learn the laws of the road to maintain the safety of other.

  2. Driving safety has been a major topic in America recently. This recent focus on uneducated and unqualified drivers can only help to keep the streets safe. I agree that it should be allowed that qualified illegal immigrants be allowed to be taught the rules of the road. They are going to drive anyway, why not help them to be safe while doing it? This subject has many different variables concerning whether or not these people should be in the U.S., but I think we can all agree that safer roads is an important priority.
